Energate Announces Availability of Smartphone Home Energy Application
Delivering innovative solution for remote control of smart thermostats and home energy management via mobile handheld devices
Ottawa, ON – July 20, 2010 – Energate (www.energateinc.com) a leading provider of demand response and home energy management solutions for utilities and their consumers, today announced the availability of its mobile application “MyEnergate” for home energy management via Smartphones and mobile handhelds. MyEnergate is yet another valuable feature that utilities can offer to demand response program participants to shift energy use from peak to off peak times.
With the new mobile solution, utilities and consumers reap the benefits of remotely managing their energy use. The Energate mobile application allows consumers to control their air conditioning, HVAC equipment, pool pumps, water heaters and smart thermostats from anywhere at anytime, enabling their households to work as efficiently as possible. Consumers are now able to remotely adjust their Energate smart thermostat’s temperature, schedule or update a vacation event, change the system and/or fan operating settings and receive alerts. In addition, the MyEnergate portal allows households to visualize, understand and manage energy usage for their home or remote residence, such as a cottage.
The MyEnergate application provides consumers with the ability to make choices to reduce energy consumption, and is vital to the operations of many electric utilities for peak load management. Utilities can leverage the MyEnergate mobile application to engage consumers while scheduling events and managing peak load reduction through two-way communications, leading to better consumer acceptance. MyEnergate extends the management to its full Consumer Connected Demand Response (CCDR) solution, which includes Energate’s Wired Load Control Switch, ZIP Connect™, a ZigBee to IP Bridge and a platform of tools to manage two-way communications with the Home Area Network (HAN),using Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) or broadband/Internet connections.
“Energate strives to consistently provide innovative, enabling technology solutions for both consumers and utilities. We are excited to add the MyEnergate application to our broad suite of demand response solutions,” said Energate Chief Executive Officer Niraj Bhargava. “We look forward to working with our customers to deploy the MyEnergate application into their pilots and deployments, while ensuring convenience for consumers.”
