LC301 Wired Load Control Switch

Extending the Smart Grid

Energate’s ZigBee Load Control Switch can disable major loads such as air conditioning compressors, pool pumps, and water heaters, and also communicates with the ZigBee-enabled smart meters being deployed by leading utilities to more effectively manage energy consumption and costs, enabling new demand-side programs.

LC301 Wired Load Control Switch

The LC301RZ is a core component of Energate’s home energy management solution that lets consumers and utilities conveniently manage energy use and reduce peak demand. It supports both one-way FM RDS broadcast and two-way ZigBee Smart Energy Profile certified communications to ensure that utilities and consumers benefit from seamless communications with other ZigBee enabled components within the Smart Grid.

With its robust design, the LC301RZ provides reliable utility control of major wired household loads, including air conditioning compressors, heat pumps, baseboard heaters, water heaters, and pool pumps. As well, it supports concurrent direct load control and distributed load control capability as well as “on the fly” time out / cycle time modifications.

Basic features include:

  • Reliable design suitable for outdoor installations
  • Multiple load control categories and capabilities for Demand Response programs
  • Flexible price control profiles to support a variety of dynamic rate plans (future)
  • “Over the air” fully upgradeable firmware
  • ZigBee Smart Energy Profile compliant
  • Optional FM/RDS receiver provides a backup communication channel with all SEP features except event status reporting
  • Configurations available for direct high-voltage load control as well as for 24VAC control
  • Optional power measurement feature reports voltage, current, power consumption and power factor
  • Consumer control features provide a virtual on/off switch and opt-out functionality from smart phones and other remote clients
  • Cold load pickup feature energizes each load with a random delay after a power failure
  • Load protection features enforce minimum on and off times to protect sensitive loads like A/C compressors
